Holi, the vibrant Spring Festival of Colors, is celebrated on the Purnima (full moon) tithi of the Phalguna month. The festival is observed over two consecutive days: Holika Dahan (Chhoti Holi) on the eve, followed by Rangwali Holi (Dhulandi) on the following day. Marking the farewell of winter and the rejuvenation of nature, Holi embodies divine devotion (Bhakti), the annihilation of ego and malevolence, and the timeless love of Radha-Krishna in the groves of Braj.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Holika Dahan never performed during Bhadra Kaal?
Vedic scriptures strictly forbid Holika Dahan during Bhadra, as doing so is believed to bring misfortune to the town and ruler. It is performed only after Bhadra ends or during Bhadra Punchha.
What is the significance of roasting green wheat/gram stalks in Holika fire?
Holi is an agrarian harvest festival. Offering the newly harvested winter crop (Navanna) to the sacred fire acts as a thanksgiving to the divine for bounty and good health.
