The story

Born to Mata Anjana and Kesari through the blessings of Vayu Deva (the Wind God) and the divine Prasad of King Dasharatha's Putrakameshti Yajna, Maruti was extraordinarily powerful from childhood. Mistaking the glowing morning sun for a ripe fruit, young Hanuman leapt into the heavens. To protect the cosmic order, Indra struck him with the Vajra. Lord Shiva and all gods then revived Him, blessing Him with invincibility, supreme intellect, and ashtasiddhis.
